Recipe from the Brewmaster

American Pale Ale: Brew this APA recipe now with our WLP076 Old Sonoma Ale Yeast and produce a unique pale ale that you'll want to share with everyone:

Grain:
10 lbs - Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
1 lb - Victory Malt (25 SRM)
8.0 oz - Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM)
Hops:
.75 oz - Magnum [14.0%] - Boil 60 min
.75 oz - Cascade [5.5 %] - Boil 15 min
.75 oz - Ahtanum {6.0 %} - Boil 10 min
.75 oz - Amarillo Gold {8.5%} - Boil 5 min
Process:
- Mash at 150F for 75 min with 3.6g of water
- Fly sparge with 4.56g of water at 168F
- Boil for 60 min adding hops as indicated
- Cool to 68F, oxygenate
- Pitch one package of WLP076
Fermentation:
Primary: Hold for 3 days at 68F, then let rise to 72 and hold for 10 more days, or until terminal gravity is reached. Crash to 45F for 3 - 4 days, then package
Age for at least 30 days at 65F.
Vitals:
OG: 1.060   FG 1.013
Est ABV: 6.1%
IBU's: 56.4
Est Color: 6.2 SRM

I'm melting!!...

The first time I ever brewed was with a friend in Colorado. We brewed an oatmeal stout and since I was in from out of town I was crashed out on the floor in the basement, and perhaps a little too close to the fermenter. High krausen hit sometime in the middle of the night and covered me in blow-off material! I woke up and freaked out thinking my skin was rotting off!
