| | New Badger Hill: Foundation Stout! New in today the origin of Badger Hill Brewing in liquid form just arrived! According to Brock and Brent, this beer is the true "foundation" of their brewery. They set out to create a semi-sweet English inspired robust stout. If you recall we had the very first keg of this to hit the market back when we h ad them in for a tasting. It was fantastic. At 6.3% it's potent enough to warm you on these cold evenings, but tender enough to avoid the embarrassment of alcohol induced hulking. It is now available packaged in 6pks! Here is what they have to say about the beer: "Taking cues from old English and Irish Stouts, two brothers from the Land of 10,000 Lakes landed on their own perfect brew. The reveal? A sweet, malty roast that hints of coffee, caramel and chocolate-and finishes off clean with touches of American hops. In other words: not too schmaltzy, not too bitter. Like you'd expect from a couple of nice, well-balanced Minnesota guys." |

Odell 2-fer! Have you been good this year, or have you been a Friek? That's OK, either way you can enjoy Odell's Friek, an Oak barrel aged blend of Kriek (cherry lambic) and Framboise (raspberry lambic). The tart cherries mingle with sweet raspberry, creating a bed for the oak barrel induced vanilla and caramel flavors to snuggle in.
And if you have been EXTRA good (or naughty) we have also received a second shipment of The Meddler, one of my favorite beers of the year.
The Meddler is an oud bruin, a very rare style that developed in the Flanders region of Belgium. It takes 18 months of aging and blending to create this beer, which is comprised of several generations of brown ales aged in oak barrels. Wild yeasts, Lactobacillus, and Brettanomyces do their work to add a lightly sour finish to the sweet chocolate and vanilla flavors. Both beers are here in limited quantities, stop by soon!

Are you a reader?
Do you know someone who is? We have just about every book on beer imaginable. We even have hard to find books like local author Doug Hoverson's Land of Amber Waters, a beautiful coffee table book on the history of brewing in Minnesota. We have books on brewing, beer history, and food and beer pairings. How do you think the Firkins crew got so smart? Obviously by drinking lots of beer. You can shortcut all that beer drinking by loading the information directly into your brain via book! It's like the Matrix. Whoa. |

Stone Bad-Ass Double Bastard! We received a special delivery from Stone that glowed with an unholy light. Yes, the legendary Double Bastard 3 Liter Bottle was in there! This beer is so dangerous it comes padlocked. You have to commit when you let the bastard free!
Double Bastard is an American Strong Ale that weighs in at 11.2% ABV and is face meltingly hoppy AND malty, with citrus and toffee battling for your tongue's soul. For the more feint of heart we also are carrying 22oz bombers. It is pure arrogance in liquid form. It can inhabit your beer fridge (and not inhibit your behavior) today! |
