Hey JABbers!
The June meeting almost didn't happen, but one of our new members, John Focht, has stepped up to host! The meeting will be at the usual time (around 6:30) at 8515 Allegheny Circle in Victoria. Make sure to thank John for doing this! The "style" of the month for mash paddle is Lawnmower beers (lower gravity, easy drinking beers). Feel free to bring other brews as well! I'll be at NHC that month, so everyone have a great time!
Also don't forget to start planning your 2014 Experimental Brew! Each year we do a group challenge beer to get us all trying something new and unusual. In the past we have dabbled with different brewing sugars, yeasts, hops and even randomly assigned ingredients! This year's experiment will be for you to include some type of Breakfast Cereal in your brew! This could be as simple as using oats in an oatmeal stout to as crazy as using Captain Crunch. We will be tasting and judging the beers for the September meeting so there is plenty of time to get planning! The mash paddle that month will go to the best Cereal beer. We will be judging on overall drinkability of the beer, but also judging on how well the cereal comes through. Go big or go home!

Subject: [mba] Call for Cider Judges this Week
They're looking for judges for the Town Hall cider comp this week.
There's a session on Wednesday at the Minneapolis Northern Brewer store at 7 pm. There's also a session on Friday at 7 pm at Town Hall.
There will be food for judges both nights.
Email Jeff Merrriman if you can help: jmerriman(a)northernbrewer.com
They got 85 entries and are a bit overwhelmed with the number of entries, I think, so any help
would be great.

Subject: Judges need for Cider Competition

Hi Gera,
Jeff from Northern Brewer here. I'm organizing the Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery's 1st Cider Competition as part of their renowned Cider Week. We recently closed the registrations and have 85 ciders to judge! I can't say I expected our turn out to be quite that big and so I'm scrambling a little for enough judges.
We're going to have two sessions for judging this week. One on Wednesday night, 7pm at Northern Brewer's Minneapolis store and the other on Friday night at Town Hall Brewery (7 Corners).
I'm wondering if you could help me out by sending out a note to your fellow judges asking if they'd be able to help us out.
We're going to be judging at least 18 of the entries on Wednesday night and the remain 67 in Friday. The way I see it, we could use another 2 judges for Wednesday (I have 4 but with 2 more we can judge a few more than 18) and then a total of 10-14 for Friday night to make sure everything goes smoothly. I've been in contact with both Chris Smith and Dave Royer. They are helping out on Wednesday and have also been great at helping to get lines out to other judges.
If you'd be willing to judge, we'd love to have you. If you'd be able to send out an email and have interested judges get back to me, that'd be great!

Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks!

Hey JABBERS! We still need someone to host the June 13 JAB meeting! The usual suspects for hosting (Me, Mike B. and Mike L.) are all out of town and can't do it. I would really hate to have the first JAB meeting since 2006 to be canceled. All we need is a garage, patio, shady basement, and/or a permissive spouse! Please respond to this or on the facebook site if you can help out. With 70+ members we should be able to figure this out!!!
Thanks

Dear Mr. Anderson,
Thanks for contacting me earlier this session about S.F. 2604, a bill allowing home-brew beer to be provided, though not sold, at out-of-home events. This legislation was included in the omnibus liquor bill (S.F. 2336), which was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Dayton.
Sincerely,
Ann Rest

Judge Beer, Get Paid!
Call for Judges and Stewards!
www.brewerscup.org 2014
Registration is now open for the 2014 Indiana Brewers’ Cup Competition.
Is this just another call for another brewing competition? Of course! But this is the Indiana Brewers Cup. The competition where everyone who is anyone will
come, judge, and get paid! Plenty of bathrooms, great food, just a great experience! Ok, that is the carrot, the pitch, and the lure. On to business.
The Indiana State Fair Brewers Cup is one of the largest Craft Beer competitions in the country. The Brewers Cup began judging quality homebrew and professional
entries in 1999. The competition continues to have annual growth. In 2013 over 1200 homebrewed and professional beers were judged over three sessions. BJCP judges, professional brewers, and BJCP Provisional Judges are welcomed and encouraged to judge at this
year’s competition. Judging will take place on Friday, July 11th, and Saturday, July 12th, at the Marsh Blue Ribbon Pavilion
on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is a BJCP-sanctioned competition, so points will be awarded. We also pay a small stipend to offset travel expenses to professional brewers and BJCP judges. Judges who travel at least 50 miles one way and judge at least
two sessions will receive a $100 stipend. Local judges will be paid $12.50 per session. We provide meals during the judging and you are welcome to stay for the Awards Reception on Saturday evening. For Homebrewers The Indiana State Fair Brewers’ Cup will
again participate in the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB) as a Qualifying Event. Consult http://masterhomebrewer.org/
for more information.
A website,
www.brewerscup.org/ is available for judge/steward registration, entry submission, and
details surrounding this years event.
If you like to judge beer, judge beer along side some of the top judges and stewards in the country, get paid for judging, see old friends, meet new friends,
then don't delay, proceed today to www.brewerscup.org/. Click on “Sign up to Judge”
